Enjoy an authentic Holi Festival in Suriname with the largest traditional Hindustani community outside of India on the Holi Phagwa Festival Tour. Get special access to the annual celebration activities, including: a bonfire, the making of natural paints, religious services at a Hindu temple, and home visits.

FACT: Holi is celebrated with great joy and festivities in Suriname. Just like in India, a Holika bonfire is burned the night before the Holi Phagwa to symbolize victory of good over evil. On festival day, people delight in spraying friends and family with colored powders and water and singing Holi songs.

Additionally, you'll explore Paramaribo and learn about the history, ethnic diversity, and architecture of Suriname with the guidance of Suriname's Cultural Ambassador Cynthia McLeod. You will also discover the rainforest and visit with a traditional African Village. Prepare to be enamored by the country's natural beauty, consciously preserved ecology, and unique cultural and religious tolerance.
